RDA Wheatbelt is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Oborn to the position of Chair, following the retirement of Terry (Tuck) Waldron. Karen’s term will commence on the 1st April 2025.

Karen has extensive background across the region in local government, environmental management, education and not-for-profit organisations. Karen’s experience will bring a wealth of knowledge to the organisation and we look forward to working closely with her on projects that benefit the people of the Wheatbelt.

Chair Mr Terry (Tuck) Waldron:
“Congratulations to Karen Oborn on her appointment, I wish Karen all the best in this exciting position. Also, a big thank you to the Committee and Staff for the support provided to me and for your ongoing commitment to the Wheatbelt.”

Federal Minister for Regional Development, Kristy McBain MP:
“I congratulate new and returning RDA chairs, who will work closely with their community, local businesses and all levels of government to drive growth and development in their regions.

“With more than $117 million from the Australian Government set to flow across all of the RDA committees over the next five years, it is an exciting time for the new and returning chairs, as they’ll have the opportunity to work with their members to set the future agendas for their RDAs.

“We recognise the importance of local leaders supporting our work to Build Australia’s Future, which is why I look forward to working with RDAs into the future.”

Thank you to our outgoing Chair Tuck Waldron

This means we say farewell to Tuck, who has played a significant part in our organisation for the past seven years. Thank you for your support, enthusiasm, knowledge and vast network of contacts built over many years of engagement and commitment to the region.

Director Regional Development, Josh Pomykala:
“Tuck has been an invaluable asset to RDA Wheatbelt, providing exceptional support, expertise and a passion for regional development. His insights, guidance, and dedication have significantly contributed to the success of many of RDA Wheatbelt’s initiatives. I am deeply grateful for his unwavering support, advice and humour throughout my tenure. I wish Tuck all the best and also extend a warm welcome to Karen.”
