Ellenbrook Study Hub Approved: A Major Step Towards Accessible Tertiary Education

The City of Swan and Regional Development Australia Wheatbelt (RDA Wheatbelt) are delighted to announce the approval of the Ellenbrook Study Hub, set to open in 2025. This exciting initiative, funded under the Australian Government’s Suburban University Study Hubs program – a key recommendation of the University Accord – marks a significant step in improving access to tertiary education.

Located at the Ellenbrook Library in the heart of the community, the hub will provide university and VET students with free access to study spaces, academic resources, and support services.

A partnership between the City of Swan and RDA Wheatbelt ensures that students from peri-urban areas of the Wheatbelt region can benefit from this innovative facility alongside their suburban counterparts. RDA Wheatbelt brings a proven track record in delivering the successful Lumen Wheatbelt Regional University Study Hubs, which have played a vital role in supporting regional university students through their learning journeys.

The City of Swan contributes its deep connections with the community and extensive experience in library services and youth initiatives in Ellenbrook, making it an invaluable partner in this project.

The Ellenbrook Study Hub aims to address key barriers to tertiary education by reducing long travel times and providing essential resources and support. As one of the first hubs to be funded through the newly established Suburban University Study Hubs program, the Ellenbrook Hub represents a bold step towards improving equity in education access.
